Direct-Post Office FAQs

What does the new “Deselect Addresses” option mean in my DirectPost-

Office?

To avoid sending duplicate certified letters to the same address, ADD now allows you to enable a new feature to deselect an address for mailing lien notices. This feature is completely optional, and simply serves to help eliminate duplicate mailings to a single address. However, please note that the use of this new DPO feature is strictly at the user’s risk, and that failure to mail to all of the addresses listed in the records of Motor Vehicle Ownership may invalidate the lien.

What does the “Released” status mean in a DirectPost-Office packet?

In DirectPost-Office, the Released status on a packet signifies that you no longer have that vehicle in your possession. This comes after you have successfully held your auction and sold that vehicle. Setting the status as Released for the appropriate packet is a quick and simple way to clear these packets from your ** _Post View**_ list of letters. _**The Released status does not delete your certified letters from DirectPost-Office_** , but simply hides them from view. You can easily unhide your **Released** letter packets by clicking on the blue **Show Released** button at the bottom of your page.

What are DirectPost-Office Forms of Interest, and how I can view/modify

these forms in my account?

One of the many ways to customize the DirectPost-Office experience specifically for your company’s needs is through our Forms of Interest , located under the Preferences tab in your account. On the Forms of Interest page you can choose which forms to display in your Select Form Type dropdown box, and which to hide, so that you only see forms you need on your record screen. Simply scroll down the complete list of forms and uncheck any that are not applicable to your account. Before leaving the page, be sure to click on Save Changes. After you have edited your list of forms, all that you have chosen to be available will be listed in green, and those that you have chosen to hide will be listed in red.

What do the different colors of each circle symbolize in my DirectPost-

Office?

Directly to the left of each VIN in your DirectPost-Office are color- coordinated circles meant to represent the current status of your mailings:

  • Blue – A blue circle means that the letter has just been created, but has NOT been mailed yet. You still have time to DELETE YOUR PACKET for a full refund if the status is blue.

  • Red – A red circle indicates that your letters have been mailed out and are currently in the mail stream, on their way to delivery.

  • Green – The final stage is green, which symbolizes that your letters have been successfully delivered. Once you see a green circle, you are now eligible to COMPLETE YOUR PACKET.

I had to send a Good Faith Letter but I didn’t get a response. What do I

do now?

If law enforcement does not respond to your Good Faith Letter, you may continue with your auction as scheduled. You will still run a newspaper ad as you would for any other vehicle, as well as attach a Good Faith Letter Affidavit to your packet.

To do this, you will search and click on the VIN for your vehicle in your DirectPost-Office. You will then see a tab labeled _Attach Forms. Click on the drop-down menu labeled _Select Form Type , choose Good Faith Letter Affidavit and click the button labeled Open PDF Application. This will bring you to a confirmation page; simply click the button labeled Add to DirectPost Packet.

Can I send out a Mechanic’s Lien and a Towing Notice of Claim of Lien

and Sale on the same Vehicle?

No, you cannot send both letters for the same vehicle.

I’d like to report a towed vehicle to NMVTIS, can I do it from DirectPost-

Office?

Tow operators are required to report the total loss and salvage vehicles they buy, sell, own or control to the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS).

Once you have the received a Certificate of Destruction or end-of-life title for a vehicle, you can report it for free through DirectPost-Office, as long as you have created and mailed Full Service claim of lien letters using DPO!

First, search your DPO manifest to locate the VIN of the vehicle you would like to report to NMVTIS. Click the VIN and look for a series of buttons on the bottom of the screen. The orange button labeled Report to NMVTIS will take you the individual upload feature for NMVTIS and pre-fill most of the information for you. Once you have finished filling in the required information, you will click on the Submit button, and your vehicle will be reported to NMVTIS!

I am a Buy-Here, Pay-Here dealer, what can DirectPost-Office do for me?

ADD offers Buy-Here, Pay-Here dealers several helpful forms through the DPO system, including the Florida Notice to Surrender Letter and Florida Notice or Discharge of Repo Recovery Attempt. Dealers attempting to recover a vehicle can place a stop on an individual’s registration by sending the prescribed Florida DHSMV forms (82192) to the owner through DirectPost-Office. The second notice (82191) must be sent by regular mail, along with a copy of the completed 82192 to the DHSMV.
